FDM: 10X Faster. Thinking (And Moving) Ahead.

We can continue to move FDM printing ahead in many ways. You just need to think differently, and don't take no for an answer. A few industry figures have said "FDM is near its limits for wher ethe tech can go." I have never took that as policy and neither should you. Awhile back, two MIT professors, Jamison Go, and John Hart have  developed  a new 3D printing hardware called  FastFFF (Fast Fused Filament Fabrication)  which is ten times faster than 3D printers we use today. Wanaho Duplicator i3 Plus Firmware ADVi3++ version 2.0 is released!

Interesting Take On Multi Axis 3D Printing & CNC

While wandering the web today, I came across a most fascinating development in 3D Printing and CNC. A Company called Ethereal has come up with a 5 axis 3D printing platform called Halo that is also robust enough to do CNC milling.         After watching the video I was relatively impressed with the CNC, it looks like a "lite" version of many more familiar CNC routers and the materials specifications reflect this in being relatively soft materials like wax, plastics and foam, but what really struck me as intriguing was watching the 3D printer in action as it rotated around the various lower carriage axes... The sheer possibilities for creating parts without as much need for supports (if any) as well as the possibility to add new "branches" off of an existing center has some truly fascinating possibilities to me.
